We usually leave for Thanksgiving and I like to put up the Christmas tree for
FHE the week we leave, so it is up when we get home. Because, really, if you wait until after your tree only gets to be up for 3ish weeks. That just doesn't work for me. Even though having the tree up is a SERIOUS lesson in patience because the kids are uncontrollably drawn to it like bees to honey, (Maggie and Naomi have already knocked it over). But I love it and I want it to be up for as long as appropriately possible!

We went to Cascade for Thanksgiving and I didn't take hardly any pictures. Mom, Dad, Leslie, and Alex were there. We had a great time. Alex and Leslie entertained our kids pretty much the whole time, it was great! We had a delicious, huge Thanksgiving dinner. It snowed almost the whole time we were there and the kids got to go sledding. In true VanderLouw style, Elliot had what can only be described as an asthma attack (he doesn't actually have asthma but it happens every once in while, we have a nebulizer that I forgot), but after a quick trip to the doctor for a breathing treatment and a little prednezone he was fine.
I did manage to get a few shots of the amazing scenery.

*sigh* I love that place.

We also have gotten tons of snow at home.
My cute gingerbread-looking-house in the beautiful snow :)
I truly do have so much to be thankful for.
Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!

What a great post! I love the pictures of the kids putting up the ornaments!
Thanks for this post. I needed more exposure to the kids since I was going into withdrawl after seeing them drive away Sunday. And thank you for being one of only 3 people to post in the last 3 weeks. It's been pretty dead.
Dad
I love that picture from outside of Grace putting up an ornament!!! And don't Elliot's asthma-ish attacks ALWAYS happen in Cascade?! What's up with that clean Idaho air?
One other one has happened in Cascade. That one happened after we had been burning stuff all day so we figured it was caused by that. At least we didn't have to make a trip to the ER in the middle of the night, this one happened during the day so we just took him to a clinic. The doctor said that it was probably caused by the extremely dry air, but it is pretty dry in Spokane, so I don't know. The other 2 he has had happened in Minnesota, after being at Grandma V's house. We finally figured out that he is very allergic to cats (she has a cat in the house with lots of hair!).
That is a seriously bright tree. We did the tree thing last night. Always a good time.
Next year we can all stay in Spokane for Thanksgiving.
really pretty tree. abby, do you recognize the tshirt? merry christmas everyone. watched the end of scrooged (with bill murray last night). getting into the christmas spirit.
xoxo everyone.
I love the photo from the outside. I got a shot like that of Valerie last year, but it was all blurry, not at all what I was going for.
We still do not have a tree, but hope to soon! I am excited to see what Asher thinks about all that this year. Great photos!
i was going to ask about the shirt!! i figured grace hadn't recently taken a trip to london, so...
Love your pictures Becky. I have been out of the blogging world for too long. This outs me in the Christmas spirit too.
Hope all is well!
