We don't usually expect to get a snow day at the end of February, but that is exactly what we got yesterday. We woke up to a good 2 feet of snow that had fallen over night. The kids were so excited. It is the first snow day we have had this year and I'm pretty sure we just had the last day off (last Friday!) that was built in for a snow day make-up, so the kids will be in school an extra day before summer break. But that's alright with me!
Yesterday morning at about 10:30 Grace said, "Hey, I have to go to school!", like we just forgot to send her to school that day. It gave me a good laugh :)
We don't do a whole lot for Valentine's Day, but every year we decorate Valentine's cookies. The kids love it. This year since Valentine's Day fell on a Monday we decorated our cookies for FHE and delivered them to some friends. The kids had a great time and we didn't have a million cookies sitting around the house. It was a win-win!
This weekend I got to go to a reunion with my college roommates in Monterey, CA. It was SO FUN!! I forgot my camera, gah! But everyone shared their pictures with me. Here are some I took with my phone. More to come!
Are kids so obsessed with cutting hair? My heart sunk when I walked in to the bathroom and saw some long curly hair sitting in the sink and on the floor, some suspicious looking child scissors sitting next to it. Luckily when I found Maggie she had actually done a pretty good job cutting her bangs. Bullet dodged, this time anyway. We haven't always been so lucky...
"Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
~Marjorie Pay Hinkley
"My dear sisters, do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but pray for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your tasks will not be a miracle but you will be the miracle."
~Thomas S. Monson
"The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ would take the slums out of the people, and then they would take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature."
~Ezra Taft Benson
"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
~Dr. Suess
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of having an ulterior motive. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For, you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway." ~Mother Theresa
