Awwww, look at the babies :) Ten years ago today our lives were joined. Ten years ago today we had such high hopes and we were so happy (just look at our faces!!). Guess what? We still are. The last ten years have brought us 4 amazing kids, one dog, 6 cars, 5 cities, 3 houses/apartments rented, 4 homes owned (soon to be 5), 12 jobs between the two of us, one baptism, one eternal temple sealing, countless tears, countless joys. One big happy family. Our hopes are still high! 10 years down, eternity to go! I love you, Ray.
So we went to Shopko after lunch today to pick up some $1.99 flip flops for the kids (sweet deal!!). It is always "exciting" to go to the store with all 4 kids. Grace and Elliot run around picking up everything, asking if we can get it, to which I always reply "NO". Today was really bad because I allowed them to pick out 2 pairs of flip flops each, so I guess they thought they would try their luck and ask to get everything else they saw!! So, Maggie and Naomi (in the shopping cart) were pretty much ignored in my attempts to keep tabs on Grace and Elliot. Anyway, Grace had some seriously crazy hair, a la Crazy Hair Day at school (pictures to come). I noticed a few strange looks from people in the store, which I attributed to Grace's hair and me and my barely veiled threats to Grace and Elliot to not "ask me for one more thing, or we aren't getting anything". So we pay, walk out to the car, yell at Grace and Elliot to "STAY OUT OF THE ROAD!". I go to get Maggie out of the shopping cart and SHE HAS NO SHIRT ON!! Who knows when she took it off. Needless to say, those looks began to make a bit more sense...
My life is pretty boring and I haven't had anything good to post. So I decided to do a random midweek update!!
**I guess this is something that is super duper exciting...ELLIOT IS POTTYTRAINED!!!! For the last 3 or 4 days, he has been going #1 and #2 on his own, without me saying anything. No accidents. And he has been staying dry most nights. Do you hear the angels singing "Hallelujah"? Yeah, me too.
**Maggie loooves garbanzo beans. I was eating some on a salad and she came and sat by me and ate bean after yummy bean. Who knew?
**I quit drinking caffeine last week. It was surprisingly easy. I only had a headache the first day. The hardest part is psychological, like not taking a soda with me whenever I get in the car, things like that. And I really like soda, so that's hard, but the physical withdrawal hasn't been bad.
**There are still 5 more days of school. It just seems a little wrong that kids have to go to school so far into June. And they start again on Aug. 26th. I guess they have never started before labor day here, and it is interfering with tons of pre-planned summer activities. What's up with that?
**I am reading a REALLY good book called "A Town Like Alice". You should check it out if you want a good, fun read.
**I know I am a "Twilight" nerd, but I recently saw the trailer for "New Moon" and it looks really good!!
**Naomi rolled over last week, but hasn't done it again. She was 5 months old yesterday, so wierd, and she is so adorable. She gets up on her elbows when she is laying on her tummy and holds her head up so well. I just can't stop kissing her little face! She isn't sleeping all night yet, but every once in a while she does (like last night, yay me!).
**I got my hair cut and colored a few weeks ago. I love the cut, but I'm having a hard time getting used to the color. For the last few years, all I have wanted to do is start coloring my hair again. It got to the point where I was pulling out WAY too many grey hairs, so I finally got it colored. Needless to say, I'm having a hard time getting used to it...
**Grace got a new haircut, too. It is super cute (I can't believe I just said "super cute") on her. I need to post a pic, once I take one!
**I think my husband is going to have a stroke over the current state of affairs in the country/ economy. He calls me up a few times every day, scandalized over something he heard on the radio. I have to remind him that there is more to life than politics, it's all he talks about.
**I hate to be one of those people who says "I told you so" but, I told you so...(see the following Youtube clip)
"Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
~Marjorie Pay Hinkley
"My dear sisters, do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but pray for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your tasks will not be a miracle but you will be the miracle."
~Thomas S. Monson
"The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ would take the slums out of the people, and then they would take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature."
~Ezra Taft Benson
"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
~Dr. Suess
"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of having an ulterior motive. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For, you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway." ~Mother Theresa
