My friend Misty taught me a few things about my camera (which I am afraid is a bit too sophisticated for me, but I'm trying to learn!). I'm learning about f-stop, ISO, shutter speed, AV, TV, and more. She also taught me a bit about composition, and I have been practicing front light. She recommends you turn off your flash and use natural light whenever possible. Maggie was my subject. I think they turned out pretty well!
I put Maggie in front of a window so the light was directly shining on her (front light)
See how you can see the reflection in her eyes? That is what you want!!
This one might be a little bit more side light...
This one is my favorite :)

So cute! Man, that girl is beautiful! I really need to learn how to work my camera, too. I want to take a class but can't find one that works with my schedule. Someday. Your pictures look great!
She could be a model. And you, her photographer. :)
These are awesome. You're learning and doing well, my friend. It helps that Miss Maggie is gorgeous too!
Lovely photos and I agree- I never use my flash unless I have too... which is one of the OTHER reasons I am so happy it is not so cold outside anymore...
"Turned out Pretty Well"? ....Girl these are awesome and your subject is adorable!
It took me forever to figure out ISO- SS-F-stop...
Go print one out and put it up!!
Her beauty is natural. Good job capturing it.
