CRA.ZY

I have been neglecting my blog for the last few weeks because it is total chaos at my house right now.  Here is a quick update:

*We closed on our house on Friday and since then Ray and I have been staying up very late, babysitter gets to our house at around 8pm, to paint, rip out carpet, try to do some updates before we move in at the end of the month.  Carpet will be installed next week, so we have to get the painting done.  The problem is the trim.  We are painting it, ALL of it.  It is taking WAYYY longer than I thought it would.  And I am very tired.  Kids still getting up at 6.

*I am feeling generally overwhelmed by the whole situation and it is sort of causing me to shut down in every other area.  I feel like I was stretched pretty thin as it is, but this has just put me over the edge.  I HATE MOVING!!!  I will be so relieved when it is all over in 2 weeks.  And I know it will be worth it, the house will look so much better.

*Swimming lessons, every day.  Need I say more?

*I have decided to take the hard line with my kids and eating.  My 3 oldest RARELY eat dinner.  They know that if they don't eat dinner they go to bed hungry.  I think they have just gotten used to eating 2 meals a day.  Soooo, I have started giving them their uneaten dinner for breakfast, and if they don't eat it for breakfast they get it at lunch.  It has worked like magic with Grace and Maggie, but Elliot went almost 2 days eating only milk, 2 gogurts, and a piece of celery with peanut butter.  I finally caved and got pizza for dinner on the second day (last night) because I knew that was a dinner he would eat. I know that if I don't stick to it it will just get worse, but it is hard.  He woke up crying because his stomach hurt, *sniff*, I wanted to cry, but I still fed him his dinner for breakfast.  My resolved definitely wavered.  Will I ever get him to eat?  We shall see...

I have some before pics of the house.  I will try to post them soon.  Now, I'm off to paint all night!

Update: It is 12:20 AM and I have decided that painting trim is worse than Chinese water torture!!

I know how you feel about eating. I never remember not wanting to eat...

Are you guys painting and decarpeting the house before closing on it or are you painting your old house? You are good for doing all that so tired. You are right though, it will be worth it. That seems to be the way with difficult things.

Wow, yeah, I can see why you just couldn't get around to writing on your blog. I hate moving too!!! But all these late nights will be worth it in the long run when you have all your beautiful trim. And be strong with those kids and the dinner! Easier said than done with everything else going on - but they'll thank you in the end when they're not such picky eaters like I used to be...

Aw Becky....you are amazing sticking to the dinner thing. He'll have to start eating eventually! :(
And your house will look AWESOME!! Painting is bad enough, but painting trim??? Sounds like torture to me. Did you take before pictures so you can show us after pictures and we'll all be amazed?

I laughed when I read about Elliot. I know it's not funny, but, geez!, that kid has some serious will power. It'll be a very positive thing for him somewhere down the line. Until then, you're doing a great job! Can't wait to see the pics of your new house!

Part of the reason Valerie did not grow a single fraction of an inch from 7-11 was because of her undesire to eat. Now she is way over that one. It was unbearable at times when she was a toddler. I took her to her Dr over it several times.

PS- I think you guys are way way smart in doing things like you did! IT is going to feel great in your freshly painted, newly carpets, new house! :-D

Becky I feel your pain on both points. When we bought our current home we painted all the trim and the doors as well(white). What a major pain, but when I go in to other homes that are similar age and style that still have the wood color trim I'm sooo glad we did it.
The eating issue with my kids is huge as well. Jack will seriously go all day eating hardly nothing and then go to bed hungry. He is sooo skinny too. I've gone in to the ped. just to talk about it becuase I really thought he had something wrong with him. They checked his weight and since he's within normal(on the skinny side of normal though)she said just keeping offering him food and new choices and he'll come around. He also has said many times times that his tummy hurts. It's not fun but maybe it helps to know you're not alone on this. I can't help but keep asking what did I do wrong? Hang in there!

I'm with ya too, Beck. Avery never eats her dinner. She won't even sit still for two minutes at the table with us so we can have some family time. It drives me crazy. After reading your blog, I am going to try to tackle the issue.

I know moving is tough. You said the blog and everything else have been on the back burner. That's the way it has to be. Don't stress or fret about ANYTHING in your life right now. Just focus on getting the house stuff done for now. Everything else can wait. You'll get through it soon. You'll see.

I am excited to see your pics. I am sure all your hard work will pay off. Hang in there!

Oh my gosh, we just painted the baby's room and painted all of the trim, too. It was the BIGGEST pain in the butt...we had to do 5 coats! And we are even using really nice paint. There is so much more wood I would like to paint white in this house but after that, I think I'm done. This is a rental, after all. But you will be SO happy when you're done and get you get to move in to your new house! Can't wait to see the before and after pics. Good luck with the eating thing...I'm sure Elliot will give in soon. Hang in there!!

I can't imagine that kind of stress! I also hate to paint and my living room and kitchen are in dire need. Hang in there! You know what they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Painting trim IS worse than Chinese water torture; it's the worst thing EVER. You definitely have my pity.

I am SOOOOOO intrigued with your food strategy. I MUST steal it from you, because I too am at my wit's end with the crappy eating that goes on in this house. GOOD IDEA BECKY!!!

Good luck with all that you have going on Becky. I had every intention of signing the kids up for swim lessons again this year, but June and July were SO BUSY, and swimming lessons here are SO EXPENSIVE, so I took the lazy way out, and now we just swim a few days a week at the neighbor's pool.

I hear you that life is overwhelmingly busy, and when you're doing a move with four little kids, OH MY, you truly have my sincere sympathy!

Best of luck to you guys Becky. Can't wait to see the pic's!
