We have had a crazy week in the VanderLouw home. Mostly because we started potty training Elliot on Saturday. He is doing pretty well, but it seems like one step forward, two steps back most of the time. He has only had one pee-pee accident, but he still has not pooped on the potty. He just poops in his underwear!! And I get to clean it up. On Wednesday night he went potty alone, without being asked, but hasn't done it since. It might be because I keep making him go before he really recognizes it (Ray was home with him when he went by himself). Anyway, we just have to keep plugging along with it, he will get it soon enough.
Maggie is almost walking. She took 4 steps on Sunday night, but hasn't done it since, she will usually only take one or two. She is getting better at standing on her own. She is such a good baby, she eats anything I give her. The other night we fed her some black beans and she loved them!! It is such a relief to actually have a child that eats (for now anyway). Maggie is getting 6 teeth, yes 6, all on top, all at the same time. I feel so bad for her. She has had a low fever off and on and has had a hard time sleeping, which means I don't get to have much sleep either!! But she, remarkably, has not been very fussy and has remained pretty happy. We just keep lots of baby orajel on her gums!!
Grace has just been a good sport through it all. I feel like such a bad mom. I took her to the doctor this week because I thought she might have a bladder infection. She didn't but after I told the doctor that she has been complaining a lot that her stomach hurts, they took an x-ray of her stomach. Well, she was extremely constipated. I always asked her if she had to go to the bathroom whenever she said her stomach hurt. She always said no. She also always tells me when she goes #2, but I haven't really been looking at it. Poor little girl. I felt so bad. But, we have that all fixed up now!! I keep telling her that if she doesn't want this to happen again she needs to eat all her fruits and veggies!! We have been having serious potty issues this week!!

Sounds like my week.....kind of. Colby's only pooped in the potty a total of 3 (maybe 4?) times, the rest in his underwear or pull-up at naptime, which I really appreciate! Maggie is soooo cute!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT for you guys to come!
Oh Becky, you poor thing!! I am so not looking forward to potty training Jack. He got out of the tub the other day and was naked on my bed. The though ocurred to me that I should probably put his diaper on, like I always do, but I just let him play instead. He was laying on his tummy, my side of the bed, stopped moving and then said, pee pee. He peed on the bed. I hate it when I ignore those little thoughts. That expression on Elliott's face is great and Grace looks a bit like Dora. I like her haircut and would love to cut Mia's that short but she really wants it long. I hate dealing with it. All the boys I have known have hated to poop on the potty. You would think that would be the easiest part because they could feel it. Good luck with all that "crap" and stuff. Sorry this is so random. I guess I need to get to bed. Wish we were in Poky the same time you will be.
Potty Training... what a nightmare. I actually refuse to do it. My oldest two kids were WAY late using the toilet and I didn't care, because I couldn't handle the stress of a public pooping. I put them in pull-ups after their 3rd birthday, and then never tried to put them on the toilet until they started going themselves. Gage wore pull-ups until a month after his FOURTH birthday, and Ivy wore them until 3 1/2. But, I can honestly say, neither of them have ever had an accident in public! Potty-Training Boycott works, ya just gotta be able to pay for pull-ups without thinking about all the money you're literally flushing down the toilet!!! Cute kids Becky!
Hey~ I keep looking for an update, but there is none- what happened with the interview in the end?
Inquiring minds want to know... or at least this one does.
ok, now i am really homesick for my vanderlouw babies.
Just hearing about potting training gets me nervous. My girls were pretty easy but with Zac I feel like it's going to be a different experience! I guess I still have a while before that happens. That's great that Maggie eats anything...Zac is my first kid that will eat anything (even the bird food) I am so gla, hopefully he will be normal on the charts! Grace hair is cute, Ellie just got bangs and there is something about a little girl with bangs that is just darling!
I just love seeing your cute family Becky.
