I remember when we bought you for $3 at a garage sale, right after we got married over 10 years ago. You have served us well. It is always hard to say goodbye, but when you lean precariously to the side and fall over without someone holding you, it is probably time to go. You see, it just isn't safe because the iron can't sit on you alone, and sometimes there is no where else to set it...

I know it is a cliche, but you had to be replaced by a new, younger, shinier (and sturdier) version. Hello new friend...

And you, I remember when we got you as a wedding gift from...I honestly can't remember who. You have also served us well, but when your glass cracks a little more every time you are used and your prongs are bent, you only go one speed and your pulse is broken, well...it is time to go.

Again, to be replaced by an newer, shinier, uncracked version. Hello new friend...

Becky, that was a lot to catch up on! Your mom and dad are too cute. It always makes me sad that I didn't get to see my mom and dad grow old together. They'd be coming up on their 45th anniversary in five months, and I bet they'd be as cute as your parents are!
I STILL have the ironing board that I've had since we lived in the townhouse on 6th South & 2nd West! It is a total piece of crap, and I didn't even realize until now that it's one of the few things I still have that dates back to my pre-Jon life.
Our blender crapped out A LONG TIME AGO, probably due to Jon's love affair with smoothies. It's fun to get younger, newer versions, of appliances, eh?
Sounds like you guys had a great Labor Day week-end; your parents sound so awesome! I'm so glad to be in touch again Becky... even if we don't always agree on every political issue, I think you are pretty great! Loved catching up with you today!!!
Niiiice blender. My blender "crapped out" (haha, loved that) a year or two ago, it was only 4 years old, so your blender served you well. And I totally need a new ironing board....
I love the chrome legs on your new ironing board. And that blender looks fantastic. I am a little envious here. We have no blender at all, but I have one at my ex-house...
I also REALLY REALLY REALLY like your sectional!
Mary,
Thanks for the... compliment?. Just what I always wanted to be - old and "cute." I haven't read that post yet, but now I'm going right to it to see what I did that was cute.
Becky's dad.
New friends are good to have, but we ALWAYS cherish the old!
Yup, about 10 years of marriage...then all the wedding gifts start falling apart. The dishes are broken, pots warped, and as you said...blender and ironing board...laid to rest!
You are so funny Becky!!! I totally miss you lady!! Thanks for saying such nice things on the web-site!! Croatia is amazing if you and the husband ever want to go you have a place to stay!! :) TIff
