Monkeys About Summer

By Grace

The sun the sun in the summertime.
We can all play in the summer light.
You and me are monkeys about summertime.
A fire bolt in the sky and that is the sun in the evening sky.
Lemonade in a giant cup in the day light.
The moon the moon looks like a lagoon in the black cat sky,
a black cat floating like a hat on a head.
A Halloween party in the sky,
A feast filled with ladybugs on the zombie head plate.
Wearwolf in a mansion filled with ghosts and zombies too.
A pumpkin as scary as a jack-o-lantern,
a floating baby head, it is giggling and chuckling loud.
And back to school away.

Grace sat outside the other day and wrote this poem on a box all by herself. She did it for a challenge project at school. She is so great!!

That's pretty much the most awesome poem I've ever read. I love that she mentions zombies and wearwolves. :)

I loved it! The best line was "You and me are monkeys about summertime." I'm totally impressed that she knows what a lagoon is.

Back to school is always associated with images of horror...isn't it?

Wow!!!! That is awesome!! You should try to get that published somewhere! Seriously amazing! How creative!!! She doesn't seem old enough to be that creative! :(
Grace must somehow subconsciously remember "Crazy Monkey!" in Big Juds, right Les?

OK, interpretation please, for those of us who do not wax poetic. Floating baby head - giggling and chuckling? Wow! Macabre. Maybe you should have her psych analysed.

Seriously though, it is amazing how each line paints a picture in your mind. Very descriptive. Maybe what you should do is get her IQ tested.

Proud to be Grandpa.
